Calgary Recovery Community – Overview
Calgary Recovery Community is a fully funded, licensed, bed-based addiction recovery program for adult men. Operated by Last Door Recovery Society, the program uses a Recovery Community Model to help individuals overcome substance use challenges by emphasizing peer support, community involvement, and structured daily living.
The Calgary Recovery Community provides 71 Treatment Beds with 2 Detox Beds for a toral of 73 beds.

- Focus on peer connection, mutual support, and shared experience
- Recovery is seen as a long-term process requiring a balance between self, family, peers, and community

- Addresses addiction using biological, psychological, and social strategies

Therapeutic and Support Services
Personalized Recovery Plans
- Each resident is assigned a counselor at intake
- Plans include:
- CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)
- DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy)
- Individual and group counseling
- Mutual aid support groups
- Educational and specialized groups, including:
- Co-parenting
- Media and gambling awareness
- Support for returning to work, school, and family life

Program Length
- Typically ranges from 120 days to one year, depending on individual progress

Recovery Capital: Building Long-Term Success
Calgary Recovery Community emphasizes developing recovery capital; the resources needed for long-term sobriety and personal growth.
Types of Recovery Capital:
- Social – Support from family, peers, and mentors
- Physical – Health, housing, and financial stability
- Human – Skills, education, coping strategies
- Cultural – Beliefs, values, and spiritual practices that support recovery
Post-Treatment Support (Continuing Care)
Calgary Recovery Community recognizes that recovery continues after treatment ends. Continuing care services include:
- Alumni Groups – Ongoing peer connection and support
- Continuing Care Programming – Ongoing check-ins and support post-treatment
- Return to School or Employment – Guidance and support in reintegrating into professional or academic life
- Housing Support – Help accessing safe and stable housing after treatment

Clients, alumni, and their families have access to:
- Participation in some of the world’s largest recovery events hosted by Last Door

- Focus on growing community capital, which includes developing leadership, building lasting friendships, and contributing to the broader recovery movement
