A Sister Lost in Secrets, Shame, and Addiction and How I Broke Free

Jodee has known what the word “alcoholic” means since she was 5 years old. Not because anyone told her, families keep secrets, and he’s was no different. Or they think they keep secrets but even as little children they figure things out very quickly. By 6, she had already decided her parents alcohol fueled life was never going to happen to her. Never. She could not have been more wrong.

When you meet Jodee’s younger brother Brett, you will see that he was no amateur alcoholic. As he walked the thin line between life and death, she experienced gut-wrenching highs and lows, obsessively doing everything she could to get his life back on track, sacrificing her own young children, marriage, career, and personal health. Like the millions of people worldwide who love someone addicted to drugs or alcohol, Jodee believed at the time she was doing all the right things.

A promise made by a devoted sister to tell her dying brothers story. The heartbreaking reality of this insidious brain disease is that in it’s late stages he didn’t believe he was dying. Written with extreme candor, from the perspective of a loving sister intertwined with an addicts view; The Sun is Gone will leave readers breathless but full of knowledge.
