Alumni of the Month Justin
Alumni of the MonthNovember 2020
Hi my name is Justin B
I grew up in Maple Ridge BC and I have always had lots of support and love from my big Italian family.
I started smoking weed at the age of 13 and I was selling drugs before I could drive. I went to school to be an automotive collision repairman and then switched into operating heavy equipment. I never used hard drugs until I was in my early 20s and I slowly got worse and worse in my addiction.
At 28 I checked into the Last Door Recovery Society, I remember the first day like it was yesterday. My first meal was a big homemade meatball sub for lunch it made me feel at home surrounded by a big family of guys. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and welcome. I invested 7 months at Last Door Door in Primary Care and was back to work after 4 months. I lived in Last Door’s Transitional living for two of those 7 months while I worked. With the connections I made at Last Door, I moving in with friends from the Last Door, and we all rented a place together. It was the best decision I have made in my life. I changed my entire life.
I still feel at home when I visit the Last Door as an alumnus. I still love going back and giving back.
The connections I made at Last Door have given me a big support group, where we all ride dirtbikes and Harleys while doing recovery together.
My life really started the day I checked into the Door. I am forever grateful. Thank you to all the staff for giving me my life back
Proud door boy Justin B
