Alumni of the Month Jason P

Hello my name is Jason P.

I grew up in Surrey to a small but loving family.  My family was hard working and I was given every opportunity.

In high school I started doing drugs and drinking alcohol because of low self esteem.  I then dropped out of high school and turned to a life of crime to support my ever increasing dependency to drugs and gambling.

Any efforts by my family were ignored and I fell deeper and deeper into addiction.  The local police agencies and court system knew me very well. after 25 years of addiction and a life spiraling out of control.  I finally asked for help.

I showed up at the Last Door with 3 bags of clothes and hope for a fresh start.

I was welcomed by staff and clients with open arms. I spent 9 months at the Last Door and in that time I learned  so much about my self and how to communicate and talk about my feelings.   I surrendered to the fact that i can’t in any way do drugs or drink successfully.

The staff were both competent and encouraging. I now have a job and surround myself with people in recovery.  I feel the best I have ever felt, I live with integrity and a high moral standard.
