Addiction Treatment Newsletter – Issue #71

ResearchUBC, Last Door and Westminster House working together

An innovative 5 year research project is taking form that involves generation of an outcomes report using potential assessments and measures that will be used in a research project evaluation of social model programming for addiction as offered at the Last Door and the Westminster House. The report will study the quality of life gained through long term abstinent based treatment and the effectiveness of contemporary relapse prevention methodology.   Stay tuned for a press release soon.

Alumni of the Month

Never in a million years would I have thought that my life would have gotten to a point of where it did.  My testimonial goes to show that no matter what background you come from, who you were in the past, what you did, what you used, or how you lived your life, that the feelings and the behaviours are all the same. Before coming to The Last Door I would rarely drink (sometimes as infrequently as once every 2-3 months) and had only ever used drugs three times in my life.  My addiction was playing video games, watching online video game streams, and Netflix.
